The Rose You Gave to ME

Fair flowers there are with fragrant scent,
And charming blooms one loves to see,
But only one has roused my heart-
It is the rose you gave to me.

My flowers of hope may turn to dust,
Or fade away from memory,
But the heart that loves shall never forget
The one who gave the rose to me

Kindness to Animals

He prayeth well, who loveth well
Both man, and bird, and beast.
He prayeth best, who loveth best
All things both great and small;
For the dear God, who loveth us,
He made and loveth all.

Coleridge

The Kuliawan

The kuliawan shows us what to do when we do our duty. "Be happy about it!" he sings. Do you know his song?

What a rapturous jollity
The kuliawan's life must be
As he chirps above the flowers
Of the fresh green vine-made bowers,
Kuliawan! Kuliawan! Kuliawan!

There he listen; on they run'
When at last their lay is done.
Merrily does he reply
With his loud, melodious cry,
"Kuliawan! Kuliawan! Kuliawan!"

Gay and wild he takes to flight,
Pours he out from his small throat
His resounding treble note,
"Kuliawan! Kuliawan! Kuliawan!"

Little Raindrops

If your mother has ever told you to stay inside when it rains, you will know just how this child felt.
--------------------

"Oh, where do you come from,
You little drops of rain,
Pitter patter, pitter patter,
Down the window pane?

"They won't let me walk,
And they won't let me go
Out of doors at all today.

"Tell me, little raindrops,
Is that the way you play,
Pitter patter, pitter patter,
All the rainy day?

"They say I'm very naughty
But I've nothing else to do
But sit here at the window;
I should like to play with you."

The little raindrops cannot speak,
But "pitter-patter-pat"
Means,"We can play on this side,
Why can't you play on that?"
